ANT and the GRASSHOPPER

An Old Story:

The ant works hard in the sunny hot day  heat all summer, building its house and laying up supplies for the winter.  The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away. Comes the winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.

Indian Version:

Comes the winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

NDTV, BBC, AAJ-TAK,INDIA TV show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house.

Anna Hazaare goes on a fast along with other grasshoppers demanding that grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter .

Menaka Gandhi is confused whose side to be on .. 

Mayawati states this as `injustice' done on Minorities.

UN International and Ban Ki-moon criticize the Indian Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.

The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the grasshopper Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Left parties call for ' Bengal Bandh' in West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.

CM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among ants and grasshoppers.

Mamta Banerjee allocates one free coach to grasshoppers on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the 'grasshopper Rath' and 'Duronto Grasshoppers'.

Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the ' Prevention of Terrorism Against grasshoppers Act' [POTAGA], with effect from the beginning of the winter.

Kapil Sibal makes 'Special Reservation ' for grasshoppers in Educational Institutions & in Government Services.

The ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes,it's home is confiscated by the Government and handed over to the grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV.

Arundhati Roy calls it ' A Triumph of Justice'.

Mamta Banerjee calls it 'Socialistic Justice'

Ban Ki-moon invites the grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.

Many years later.....

The ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multi-billion dollar company in Silicon Valley, 100s of grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation somewhere in India , ...AND As a result of loosing lot of hard working ants and feeding the grasshoppers, .

Dear 'Ex',

We don't talk too often anymore. We don't spend nights on the phone wanting to be in each other's arms.

Yet on some lonely nights, I miss those talks. I miss your voice which for some strange reason, sounded sexier in the silence of the night. I miss having the urge to sleep in your arms. I miss comforting you after a nightmare, telling you I will stay on the phone till you sleep again(though i was sleepy). I miss pretending to sleep just to hear the sweet things you'd say and to feel the butterflies when you'd kiss me goodnight before disconnecting the call... 

We don't meet too often anymore. Hell, we barely even see each other on our own will. It is mere co incidence that we happen to cross each other and even then, we behave like the other barely exists.

Yet on some graceful evenings, I miss having you around. I miss walking with you, slipping my fingers lightly into you. I miss being held while crossing the road. I miss being looked at like there was nothing more beautiful that you've ever seen. God I miss you so much........ 

We don't hug anymore. I barely even touch you for a hand shake for your touch scares me now. Yet I miss your warm embrace. I miss how you'd pull me into a hug when I'm upset and say,"I don't know how to make you okay. Just don't be sad" and how I'd laugh at your innocent efforts amidst the frowns. I miss your hearty hug when you'd grab me and I'd have to look for air to breathe when there was some news to rejoice over.

We don't look into each other's eyes anymore. We barely even look at each other all the little times we meet. It is not like we dislike each other now. It is just that we don't want to make it awkward for the other. Yet, I miss being intoxicated by the agonizingly beautiful brown, liquid centered eyes. I miss having to look for support after looking into your eyes. I miss being looked at with those eyes that spoke so much more than you could ever express.

Today, so many days after I said good bye to you, not knowing when I will have you back again, not knowing if that will ever happen. Back then, you were the craziest thing that happened to me. Back then, I thought I couldn't live without you and being attached to you was something I couldn't control. Back then, I believed that we were all that we could be.

I was wrong. I did learn to live without you and I'm happy if not delighted without your constant interference.
Even though I love my life and that I can't ask for anything more, sometimes I do realize that no matter how much I try to deny the fact that you're not important, may be, just may be you do matter and that you're missed.You're still special to me because once upon a time, you meant the world.

Amidst all the differences that broke us apart, I just want you to know, that may be I still love you.. And I know you love me too.. However, I really wish how much that was enough for you to come back..

Love ... another four letter word !!

When you are in this world, you are judged based on umpteen traits, achievements, success, failure, broken limbs, glasses, marital status, children, parents and the list will go on and on and on. We even judge you based on your name, your surname. This is what leads you to take decisions which you wouldn’t have, if you didn’t have the fear of society. The other day, I had a discussion with someone on twitter. He tweeted; “need help in regards to love or marriage”. I replied back, the conversation started. He mentioned he cannot marry his girlfriend because she is from a different caste and his father is orthodox. I suggested him to still speak to his parents and man up! Eventually, I angered up and he stopped replying. Perhaps he had logged out. Next day, he mentioned his father is a heart patient and he does not wish to take chances. Hence, he would silently suffer, let the girl know of his situation and move on.

The truth is, nobody moves on !!!!! Nobody.....

The life moves on but you do not. The people who say they move on, I would like to look them in the eye and talk over a drink. I really would. How cruel are we as society, as human beings! At times, I feel dogs are better than us. They enjoy each bitch and lead a dog’s life. We do the same behind the closed doors. Just for a lifelong jhooti izzat /namesake reputation/ we keep dying every day. Some die without love, some for love and some because they do not know what love is. It’s hard to tell who suffers the most.

I have been through various phases in this little life that I have. First, I wanted to live for myself., Then in an imaginary family that I wanted with certain someone, Then, I wanted to live for a family. Then, I wanted to live. Then, I wanted to live for materials. I was really happy when I was only living for materials. It’s very easy and convenient to live such a life. You earn, you earn some more and you buy, you buy some more. If you wish to earn money and live for money, you will have a much happier life. The problem starts, when you do not wish to live for money, you wish to live for love. Love cannot be bought with money; love cannot be bought with the reputation you keep building throughout your life, love cannot be forced, love cannot be taught, love can only be felt and if you don’t know what love is, then you will, I hope you do one day, someday.

Today, I live for myself. Money, love, family, blah, all these fancy words do not affect me anymore. It’s a state of mind that I never thought I would be in. I was a materialistic person. However, now, I am happy with whatever wordplay I do every day. Love, a four letter word, that I have started hating. I hate it because I have seen so many people suffer. In the name of god, in the name of family, in the name of religion, in the name of love they have to surrender themselves to something so shallow. They have to choose between insanity and love, and yet, they choose insanity. Insanity that this world feeds on, insanity that makes you suffer, insanity that drives you where you never wanted to be.

Why are they afraid to let you be? Who are they to judge you, for you being you? Who are they to decide or change your priorities? Who are they?

I wish I had the answers. And whatever I have penned down, I wish I implement in my own life!

Anna -- to follow or not to follow.

I am more than glad that I did not support Anna when he was fighting fasting for the Jan Lokpal Bill as I do not believe in his ideology. And I still do not. A truck driver was killed when he refused to bribe the police constables, I would like to ask Anna why does he not fight the case for this man? It perhaps is good news he refused to bribe, but, this man did not threat to fast-unto-death and survived, he actually died. One may argue that the truck driver did not bribe because he was following what Anna and the whole anti-corruption drive taught him, however as I had stressed earlier, this has to come from the people in the system. The police constables who beat this truck driver to death, do they care about such movements, no they do not. This happened in UP, and the state is not even ruled by Congress that Anna is rooting against now.

Anna and his team is so bent on getting Jan Lokpal Bill passed that they have challenged Congress and appealed or rather planned to brainwash the whole nation against Congress. I wonder, why do they have to clear the path for BJP, although they claim BJP cannot clear their blood marks on gujarat streets? Why do we have to please this man? The kind of statements I am reading is,

“You will have to inflict a historic defeat on the Congress. If you defeat the party (in the bypoll), this will be Anna’s victory,” Kejriwal.

This statement was issued in a public gathering in Hissar where the Team Anna is trying to educate people about corruption, ironic they picked Haryana, perhaps one of the most corrupted, literate-yet-uneducated states in India. Who has seen the future? Who knows the next government in power will pass the bill? God forbid if Narendra Modi is to be the next PM, our population might be reduced to half by mass-killing all the Muslims and then even if the Jan Lokpal Bill is passed who knows the man who admires Raj Thackery from deepest corner of his heart, fasts-unto-death to show the door to Non-Maharashtrians.

 If one reads Jan Lokpal Bill and the information shared on IndiaAgainstCorruption they claim how CVC, CBI and other anti-corruption bodies are overwhelmed with pending cases due to shortage in man power. In a nation that boasts of its population more than its corruption has shortage of man power in anti-corruption bodies? Once Lokpal comes in to action these anti-corruption bodies will be merged in to the same. A government servant who is corrupt may have to serve life time imprisonment however a Lokpal member may be dismissed or demoted! Is that not favouritism towards the so called obviously-immune-to-corruption people? And not just this, very assertively, its mentioned on the website how the committee will include handpicked Indian citizens who are obviously not corrupted which by the way will include, judges. This comes from the people whose movement is in fact financially supported by people who are being investigated for corruption themselves.

India is a country that is fuelled by emotions, be it religious or Gandhian attitude. BJP has played Ram Janmabhumi Card umpteen times and if need be they may play anti-corruption card as well, however the temple is not built yet, not that I care, but just so you know. The man who calls himself Gandhian is infected with pro right wing politics. The man, who runs Ralegaon Sidhhi on deeply rooted cast based notions, wants to teach Congress a lesson by throwing it out of power. The man who can go to any length to show how shining-India supports him and he can hold a rally where ever he likes, case in point, the un-necessary and over hyped fast for Guwahati Town Club. The man who may not dare to endorse Irom Chanu Sharmila however will fight for corruption with the help of corrupted sponsors, with the dream to have an independent body that can declare anyone corrupt based on the complaint a nincompoop may care to file and who boasts of Ralegaon Sidhi that is run on cast-based-roles. A dictator in the making, who has the power to bend the nation on its knees whenever he likes by threatening to fast-unto-who am I kidding!
