Anna -- to follow or not to follow.

I am more than glad that I did not support Anna when he was fighting fasting for the Jan Lokpal Bill as I do not believe in his ideology. And I still do not. A truck driver was killed when he refused to bribe the police constables, I would like to ask Anna why does he not fight the case for this man? It perhaps is good news he refused to bribe, but, this man did not threat to fast-unto-death and survived, he actually died. One may argue that the truck driver did not bribe because he was following what Anna and the whole anti-corruption drive taught him, however as I had stressed earlier, this has to come from the people in the system. The police constables who beat this truck driver to death, do they care about such movements, no they do not. This happened in UP, and the state is not even ruled by Congress that Anna is rooting against now.
Anna and his team is so bent on getting Jan Lokpal Bill passed that they have challenged Congress and appealed or rather planned to brainwash the whole nation against Congress. I wonder, why do they have to clear the path for BJP, although they claim BJP cannot clear their blood marks on gujarat streets? Why do we have to please this man? The kind of statements I am reading is,
“You will have to inflict a historic defeat on the Congress. If you defeat the party (in the bypoll), this will be Anna’s victory,” Kejriwal.
This statement was issued in a public gathering in Hissar where the Team Anna is trying to educate people about corruption, ironic they picked Haryana, perhaps one of the most corrupted, literate-yet-uneducated states in India. Who has seen the future? Who knows the next government in power will pass the bill? God forbid if Narendra Modi is to be the next PM, our population might be reduced to half by mass-killing all the Muslims and then even if the Jan Lokpal Bill is passed who knows the man who admires Raj Thackery from deepest corner of his heart, fasts-unto-death to show the door to Non-Maharashtrians.

If one reads Jan Lokpal Bill and the information shared on IndiaAgainstCorruption they claim how CVC, CBI and other anti-corruption bodies are overwhelmed with pending cases due to shortage in man power. In a nation that boasts of its population more than its corruption has shortage of man power in anti-corruption bodies? Once Lokpal comes in to action these anti-corruption bodies will be merged in to the same. A government servant who is corrupt may have to serve life time imprisonment however a Lokpal member may be dismissed or demoted! Is that not favouritism towards the so called obviously-immune-to-corruption people? And not just this, very assertively, its mentioned on the website how the committee will include handpicked Indian citizens who are obviously not corrupted which by the way will include, judges. This comes from the people whose movement is in fact financially supported by people who are being investigated for corruption themselves.
India is a country that is fuelled by emotions, be it religious or Gandhian attitude. BJP has played Ram Janmabhumi Card umpteen times and if need be they may play anti-corruption card as well, however the temple is not built yet, not that I care, but just so you know. The man who calls himself Gandhian is infected with pro right wing politics. The man, who runs Ralegaon Sidhhi on deeply rooted cast based notions, wants to teach Congress a lesson by throwing it out of power. The man who can go to any length to show how shining-India supports him and he can hold a rally where ever he likes, case in point, the un-necessary and over hyped fast for Guwahati Town Club. The man who may not dare to endorse Irom Chanu Sharmila however will fight for corruption with the help of corrupted sponsors, with the dream to have an independent body that can declare anyone corrupt based on the complaint a nincompoop may care to file and who boasts of Ralegaon Sidhi that is run on cast-based-roles. A dictator in the making, who has the power to bend the nation on its knees whenever he likes by threatening to fast-unto-who am I kidding!

  1. If Anna was so right is his idealogy where was he all these years by the time he turned old.. There have been many more corruption cases when he was young .. I totally agree on ur point of why the favourism on the Lokpal members .. Just coz the media had grown more accessible using sentiments of the common man to get to do what u didn't or couldn't do when u were young is not right . Money is the root for corruption I feel . I'd root for Anna if he first fights this root cause by crusading against black money of india outside india rather than the lokpal bill . But doing that won't help him gain the support or mileage of the other political parties is my personal view . So thanks piyush for puttin up ur view and I agree with u . Good work . Keep going :)

  5. Well I thought the article and the comments to it are completely one sided.so i would like to humbly put what I think.
    - we cant blame anna for the killing of a truck driver whatever the reason maybe.just because anna took up a fight against corruption we cant put everything that happens in the name of corruption against him.completely unfair.
-after 1947 India has been ruled by the Congress for about 90% of the time period.so if there is an overall systemic problem in this country i cant figure out whom else to blame but the congress.I am not claiming that BJP is spanking clean.but anna has never asked to vote for BJP..has he??people can interpret their campaign as being anti-congress.but please remember..Justice Hegde...one of Team Anna's members brought Karnataka's BJP government on its knees as Lokayukta of the state.

  6. -on Narendra Modi....well let me make it clear that nothing can justify killing people.so i am not justifying what has happened in Gujarat...but what happened in 1984 against Sikhs??...people have been killed for decades in Bihar/UP in the name of upper/lower castes.so if its a problem with related to hindu-muslim it is a question of secularism but that doesnt apply to Sikhs or within various castes of Hindus itself??so are we going to value somebody's life based on his or her religion.what kind of practises are these??No doubt Modi should be punished for his crimes, but what about others who have done no better??who has set the precedent in misusing the govt investigation mechanism??
and btw....in gujarat...did you know that Muslims have representation in the bureaucracy which is higher than their proportion of population....these are not my numbers....there are quite a few other statistics which will stagger everybody and these have been verified by a central govt study of all...!!! None of the other states can claim similar statistics...so much for Congress brand of secularism....if they care so much for minorities why are minorities still suffering??let us all recognise that there is only one language these politicians understand...money.
BJP has played the religion or the temple card ...thats communist..hmmm...But Congress will put a Muslim quota just before UP elections...if we call that secularism and concern for minorities....than I am sorry we are completely missing the point....this is nothing but hypocrisy...

  7. charasterising Team Anna in completely in one dimension is unfair to say the least...
    - how many of us actually knew about lokpal before they took it up....??
    - lokpal will not solve our problems....but dont we have to take a step somewhere...??
    - Anna is being called a dictator/undemocratic..well how many of us actually ever watched a parliament session before?? how many of us were actually aware of the way the legislative system works and took active interest in it?? not many I bet...Anna movement made us think about it at least....their movement is more democratic than lot of other non-sense that goes around....
    - What is Team Anna going to get out of this???...a few moments in the limelight???...Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal are international award winners....they dont need this....what will a 74 year old man get out of this??.....but what are politicians losing???....have we given this a thought ever???
I also write a blog....and i also wish that I have a large following....its much easier wished than done...people cant even find 5 minutes to read the blog when invited....people dont do anything without their monetary or self interest in it... but Team Anna managed to get lacs onto the street (without any monetary enticement)...and there were millions who were not on the street but were with the movement wherever they were....
Team Anna may not represent the opinions of all the 120 cr people in the country....but they have done something right....else they would not have got the response they got...
I am not saying Anna is a saint or anything like that....nothing in life is black or white....everything has shades of grey....I can bet Team Anna's grey is much lighter and better than the grey that politicians dish out to us everyday....
I am sorry but I completely disagree with whatever has been said about Team Anna here...
